Default d15b2 rebuild

I'm trying to get my pistons out, haynes manual says to use a ridge reamer and get rid of the little roughness 1/4 inch down the cylinder wall, is this necessary?

Also, how do I take the main bearing cap off? I've loosened the 8 14mm bolts and it's not budging at all

take a rubber mallet to it and give it a few taps to loosen it. Pistons push up and out through the deck where the head gets mounted.

Sweet got that off, you guys see the dark brown tinge everywhere? It's like a thick coating of oil or something, is it a problem if I don't clean it out? Or will it melt off or something once I drive the engine?

I pressure washed all my parts with engine degreaser, you just need to make sure to lube it all back up when putting it back together.

Don't use gasoline, I'm no environmentalist, but that **** leaves a mess... Take the parts to your local do it yourself car wash, and pressure wash them there. But don't use gasoline, stupidest **** ever, my friend told me that before, and I told him he's ****ing stupid...

ooh ok. Pressure wash will get it all off? My friends got a pressure washer I could probably borrow, but what's wrong with gasoline? I have a bin that I clean the parts in, have like 2 in thick of gasoline on the bottom, and dip the scrubber in every time I clean it

I mean if you have a bin that you do it in then it's no biggie, you have to remember there is also oil in gasoline, and when that gets all over the place, it's a big mess... Once you get the motor back together you will have gasoline oil mixing with everything, because you will have coated all of your parts with it.
