type R in 97 and 98 USDM had pr3-3 and a "30" near the vtec solenoid. Honda later used the same head int he 99-00 civic si and 00-01 type R ... and **** got all mixed up so now there is no way to tell ...

Bottom line, the green paint is the only way to tell short of looking inside.
PR3-4

PR3-X the X was random. My 97 head was not 3, was 4

All 3 of the R heads I pulled out of the 97-98 were pr3-3 and that 30 stamp, and I know for sure they were because the valvetrain and valves.... On the 2000/01 heads I noticed the same pr3-3, on same year b16 said pr3-3 with the 30 stamps but no inner springs on the exh. The green paint **** dont help, it comes off like dirt LOL so no telling what head it is
