hey whats up i just put another b20 vtec together i ran the car for about 1000 miles without popin vtec i just hooked the vtec wire up today and to see really what my 4 door is pushing the setup runs like a raped gorilla with vtec but right when it hits vtec you hear a loud click and bam!! vtec it seems like its the vtec lockers in the head but it runs flawless or i think that my vtec is to low it comes on at 4500 rpm what do you guys think
either drop you vtec to 4200 or try raising it to 4800-5200 maybe
curious did you torque the lost motion assembly properly?
does sound like it could be the rockers clicking hard with the oil pressure when the vtec is activated(although a click to me does not sound healthy)
like you stated if you have a vtec controller or chipped ecu try slightly adjusting the vtec rpm activation
hmmm your not throwing any codes at all are you before/during vtec?

ya so then from what your sayin to me that honestly sounds like a lot of oil pressure making that click then
"it could it be the high pressure prodrive oil pump gears"
a good possability^^

what intake mainfold do you have on there. If it is the gsr intake it might have something to do with the butterflies for the secondary runners opening up......
This made me lose all interest in the threads direction.

i have a skunk 2 and sp33 go somwhere else and thread i was just seeing if anyone had the same problem im a 7 year a.s.c cert tech i know how to tune my car im not stupid
for one...stop messing with the vtec engagement point yourself and take it to a real tuner. Have it dyno tuned. and just like Bunger suggested, check the oil pressure as well
did you wire in a relay for the vtec? ie: if you are using turboedit you have to wire in a relay for the 1 wire vtec, not sure with any other programs or stock ecus. but yeah my relay made a really loud click when it would activate vtec and i had it mounted under the dash.
