anybody all motor b17a?
just curious as to what kind of power people are making with these "mythical and rare" b17's out there. can be a b16 with b17 guts or whatever, just b17 crank/rods.
i would "assume" that it would be about 10hp more than a b16 can make.
even if its not your setup post them up.

just figure 100-110whp per liter of displacement for most average people with bolt on's and a few other mods and 120whp/liter+ for fully built motors by people who know what they are doing. simple easy
well i have been seriously considering getting the omniman video because it all makes sense to me that you need parts that work together rather just just a big culmination of parts.
so far ive got a blox p&p'd intake mani that i got in a trade and a stock bore itr throttle body.
my plans are to
b16a3 block
b17a1 crank/rods
jdm p73 .25 over pistons
shaved crank pulley(only running alternator)
all of that balanced with the flywheel and the crank polished and prolly a stock itr/ctr head that i will p&p myself to match the intake mani.

the easiest way to think of it is like this, at least from my point of view.
compare the GSR 170 hp engine to the ITR 195/210hp engine (usdm/jdm) and look at the different changes made to add the 25-40 hp.
gsr--- itr
compression 10:1--- 10.6-11:1
cams small--- slightly bigger
intake mani 2 stage--- single stage
throttle body 60mm--- 62mm
port work none--- some
header small--- slightly bigger
exhaust small--- slightly bigger
intake restrictive--- less restrictive
stock whp 140-145--- 160-165
to get add some more power you simply (as emmerald the chef says) bump it up a notch.
add a 1/2 point of compression (nothing crazy)
add an AEM or Comptech intake (seem to work the best for me)
add a larger stage1 cam and valve train to handle it and cam gears
add an extrude hone to an ITR intake manifold
bump up the tb size with an Omnipower 68mm match port it to the manifold opening
add a header like the hytech SMSP or SSR
increase the exhaust size to 60mm or 65mm(2.5inch) or 70mm (2.75inch)
add some hondata or neptune or ectune etc etc
a little dyno time
and wala another 30-50 whp over the ITR motor, simple easy, nothing to it. depending on the cam and header and compression increase.
might have to bump up the injectors to some RC 310's or RC 440's
then if you want to take it a little further get the head fully ported by an experienced porter. reduce the weight of the rods by 100 grams each with some light weight rods, add another .2-.4 increase in the compression (depending on the octane you have available locally. use the bigger cams on the market like stage 2 or 3. add the larger 70mm or something exhaust. aluminum flywheel and light weight clutch (personally i like the exedy 3 puck road race sprung hub but thats just me).
gota stick with the fundamentals because they work.

so all of these should be the basics to my build? or is this like the gsr - itr basics? ive done quite a bit of research and im confident to do a build, im just looking for like what you have said the basics on increasing. you would recommend a 68mm t.b. for the bottom end im doing? cam wise im thinking stock 99 spec itr's just because i like that they are factory and want to stick with mostly factory.

originally my plans were to do the exact same thing but use pct pistons as that would yield a 12.5~ compression, but i have been told by everybody to just use the itr's and work around those. here in michigan we have 93 octane and e85 and those are just about everywhere. and this will only be driven about 6 months out of the year.

What Omni showed you are the basics for ANY build. The GSR -> ITR was just a good way of demonstrating it. Both are Honda 1.8L DOHC VTEC engines making different power levels. If you look at what Honda did to increase power in the ITR motor (which was sticking to the basics) you'll understand the approach you need to take to increase power in your build.
