Default WRX rods for a d series?

Hello everyone, this is my first post but i been looking around for a wail here but man u guys know ur stuff lol

but for this year i did my trani swap from a auto to manual and i just finished all the bugs it had for a grand total of $1100. Next spring i want to start building the engine up and have it ready for a turbo setup for the following spring (2 springs from here)

But iv heard that you can fit wrx rods in the d series engine, they say that this is a huge advantage and there very strong rods for high power output, no my question is, is this true?? what pistion heads would go with these wrx rods??

thanks for any info and sorry for the long post, i did a question n a introduction at the same time

ive never heard of that and ive been building honda's for 10 years...

ive heard of fitting ls (b18) rods in a d series, but if your going to boost... cheaping out on rods isnt the way to go with how cheap some rods are these days, you can get fjt rods for like 300 bucks or eagles for 450 or something around there using another rod from another motor really isnt what you want to do if your going to build a motor

makes sense, when i heard that i sayd huh, y would u do that but anyways thanks for the info.

since you have been building honda's whats would b ur best recommendation for a d series engine. remember im going to be used the engine for a fully year without boost, then when i gather enough money im going to slap on the turbo.

i have heard aloooot of eagle heads, but dont you have to bore out the block? because i dont feel like spending 1000 n up to bore it out

you want to build a nice d series block that will cost a total of 1k-1200 bucks????

hmmm

75.5 vitaras fjt rods your bearings of choice i like oem honda, but expensive, people like kings and acl's ...

get the block bored over to 75.5 with the piston to wall clearance of your choice, if you plan to make more then 300whp i would get 30 thousands or more.. my friend is planning to make 450 with his vitara block and we have a 45 thousand piston to wall clearance.. gap your piston rings, again if your gonna make a lot of power a looser gap is preferable but that really depends on you and your builder how loose you want to go...

i seen people make over 400whp with a built block and completely stock head on a d16 and it doesnt cost much..

if you research on here built vitara motors it will show you alot of peoples setups good luck

To be honest, i would more then happy with 250-300 whp and thats with the turbo.

If possible id like not to bore it but if those number arent possible (and by possible i mean safe, dont want to blow the thing either) for stock internals or aftermarket rods/heads with out boring.

Any recommendations ?

you can get 300whp out of them completely stock *** motor, i have seen it done millions of times... all you need is a new oem headgasket and arp headstuds... if you only want 250-300 you can do it on a stock motor...

speedfactory on d-series.org just made 550 whp on vitara pistons and stock sleeves

heres the dyno graph... look at the powerband.. he has about 5k into this.. go throw your k swaps away lol...

oh yea heres the video

siregcivic I admire your enthusiasim for the D. , but you mean .003 thousandths more, and your friend has .0045(four and a half thousandths) piston to wall clearance for his 450hp set-up.
I am not bashing you, honestly, LOL had to say it. Math, measuring and putting it into words is difficult.
x2 on everything else you wrote.

he actually said it right..
30 thousands is .0030"
45 thousands is .0045"

what you said "(four and a half thousandths)" would be 4.005"

That is in fact .0045". four thousandths is .004" and 1/2 thousandth is .0005", so four and one half thousnadths is .0045".

you are funny.....

anyways 45 thousand's is the same thing as .0045 i have built alot of sohc motors alot of all motor sohc and a few boost sohc...

i had a b18c5 motor with intake header exhaust tune i didnt skimp on my setup.. i spent 600 bucks on my try y header and it was a copy of a 1200 dollar header and honestly i wont lie...

i have a d15z1 block with a z6 head and 12 pounds of boost on a t3 t4 .57 trim and it feels faster... alot faster then my type r setup... only thing i liked about the type r setup was the type r tranny with lsd, i like the close gear ratios... but i could build a tranny that will be the same so theres no difference...

i have love for the d... the 5 grand i spent on my type r motor setup and the 2 grand i spent on everything else for it i could have a fukcing 500 hp single cam setup that would beat the **** out of alot of allmotor setups by bus lengths

dont get me wrong the b/h/k is a better platform, but d series being so cheap why spend the money... to be different? tell me not everone has a b/h or a k setup nowdays lol
