Default ZC turbo...how much boost???

I was wondering how much boost is safe on a ZC? And is it possiblt to put LS rods into it? How much HP can it SAFELY HOLD??? I dont want a crazy setup...just something for the street and occasional trip to the strip. OH YEA...i did a search and i didnt come up with anything helpful. Our search thing sucks...ive typed in the EXACT name of a past topic and it said "no matches found". So dont tell me to do a search. Thanks alot guys.

Sean

I boosted 8-10psi w/ the GReddy kit when I had my ZC setup...it was fine.

I was thinking about going with the dsm 450's with a vortech fmu....what else would i need or is this good enough? What about my ecu??? Will it be fine with the 450cc injectors and the fmu or would i need to upgrade to a zdyne or something? Thanks guys.

you would need an afc to lean it out since the 450's would be too much.... i would go with a good fuel pump, some 450's (i have an afc) and a paxton~fpr

Got some more questions or you ZC turbo guys. What all CAN i do(since the options are limited) to build up a ZC for boost? I mean everything....fuel management, building the block and the heads...EVERYTHING. Im planning on getting my heads p&p before i install the engine. And of course im getting a new clutch and belts and stuff to strengthen up a little. What else? Thanks.

go to yahoo, search for :JDM ZC swap info.
you'll get alot also has about 3-4 write up about the turboing the ZC with the Greddy kit. You can use ls rod. I wouldn't boost more than 8 on stock internal, and no really good tunning. for engine managment i would go check out Zydne, they have many options for OBD-0 cars and boost. If i was going ZC turbo i would build it up with JE/IB new piston, eagle rods, greddy kit, hondata 2b and change everything to make my car run OBD-1. but hey that's just me.

Same for me now. I recently bumped it up to 8 lbs (it spikes to about 10).

I've been able to do this with stock injectors and waaaaayyyy too much fuel pressure. You should easily be able to do this with a little more injector.

I'm running a 12:1 disc in the FMU. That should put my fuel pressure over 100 lbs!!!

I recommend getting a lower FMU ratio (8:1) and larger injectorys. Then use the AFC to control the injectors. I wish I had done that now. If I had only known then...

You could also go Zdyne if funds permit. That will be my next move.

10psi daily....(but I am at 5400 ft above sea level) tuned with ZDyne.

I would say 8-10 safely with a 7200 rev limit. any more boost, and you might melt a piston, and any more revs and you might comprimise the strength of your rods.

make sure you get it tuned with a wideband, and you should be able to eat rice for years to come.....

8psi pump gas well tuned
10psi race gas well tuned
You will break rods after 10psi if you run it everyday like that, but why would you 10psi on a zc is (IMO) to fast on the street!

Thanks for the replies. So i can use LS rods? Does anybody on here use them and do they require any modification? How much boost can stock LS rods hold? I didnt know that JE made pistons for the ZC...where can i find them? I looked on their website and i didnt see them...maybe i didnt look hard enough. What should i expect to see on the dyno with 10-12lbs of boost? And what should i be running in the 1/4? Sorry about all the questios....just weighing my options and researching everything to the FULLEST before i make a decision on what to do. Thanks guys.

Will the b20 rods work in the ZC? Are they as strong as LS rods? And i could still use some answers from the above question...lol. Thanks alot.

10 psi on my sohc zc I made 196.35 whp you have 10 more horsepower standard so do the math, at 12psi probably around 220whp but who knows your engine might blow at 12psi that is the very limit you would want to go with a stock engine, 11psi is the highest I go and thats with race gas, you've been warned! 1/4 mile depends on traction and weight not just power but with good traction say slicks and a average weight crx low to mid 13s. Don't know about the rods heard they fit into d series engines but do need maching and such. Goodluck
