Default leaking oil presssure sending unit

The oil light came on as my daughter was was driving my 97 accord se. I had her pull over and wait for me to check it out. When I got there there was a 6inch diameter oil spot under the car. The oil level on the dipstick was fine but the oil light was still on and the oil pressure sending unit appeared to be leaking oil. Since the oil level seemed fine I took a chance and drove it home. A half mile down the road the oil light went out and stayed off for the next 7 miles until I got home. Is the oil light coming on a typical sign of bad sending unit?

i think it might be the oil sending unit. it is actually pretty easy to replace, did mine. if you do replace it, might as well change your oil too, because the oil sending unit sits right above the oil filter. is the car auto, because i have also heard that auto accords have an oil cooling unit thing that sometimes leaks, its where the oil filter attaches to in the auto i believe.
