A/c retro fitting question.
My car is a 92 da coupe and it has a r-12 on it right now. I bought the r134a retro fitting. Am I suppose to remove the valve that is on the r-12 before putting the fitting on or leave it alone? Is there anything else I need to do to convert it over to accept r134a?
you need a new dryer, A/C Expansion Valve, pull the compressor out and drain the fluid and add r134 compatable fluid, change your o rings cuz the 134 will eat through your r12 rings, you need to do a a/c flush, this would be a good time to change out the cabin filter if you have one, but if it the autozone retofit kit all you do it screw the valves on
be carefull not to screw them onto the wrong one

Reason why I asked because yesterday, I installed those retro kit and filled it with autozone, advance r134a can and it was blowing cold air. Until this morning it's blowing warm air. I figured I have a leak somewhere or what not.
nope if you just throw some of that ish in there your gonna A) ruin the compressor B) F ish up
get a flush done take the compressor out drain it and refill it then get the dryer, expansion valve, and orings and replace them
once youve had 134 in there you cant put r12 back in it so i say get the flush done or do it yourself and then throw r12 in it again but since you already threw that 134 in there you might as well just get the stuff and do it
if you do the flush youll need to take the whole ac system out and buy the flush fluid then put it in all the lines and wait 15 minutes then with a compressor flush it out and reinstall

Question about flushing the system. Is there a particular way of doing this flush? Pour fluid down the lines? How do I go the proper flush for the compressor? How many bottles of flush should I buy?
Okay, well can I just buy a new dryer and expansion valve and put all new o rings and then put it back together, then drive to the a/c service and get them to do the rest? I just want to know if I could just go ahead and replace what I need to replace now and then go to a pro.
Read up on "A/C Black Death" chances are, you have it by now.
But the condenser, evaporator and accumulator may still have traces R12 oil in it, which is not compatable with R134A oils. Ruffrhyder gave you a huge clue when he told you to research "Black Death in a/c systems"
