Just wondering if yall take long trips...10 hrs at least with your turboD cars? Do they hold up pretty good? Just wondering?

Well they hold up pretty good as long as you are not pushing boost for 10 hrs straight

exactly what I'm thinkin...if you don't get insane egt's in a few minutes of cruising you won't get it in a few hours, either. I was going to drive my car from oregon to florida as a trial by fire, but my plans changed...oh, well.

Car drives and acts like normal if you're not boosting so I dont see any problem with doing it. Doesnt hurt to keep a mini tool kit with you just in case though whether youre turbo or not.

I drove from Baton Rouge, LA to Louisville Kentucky and my car did alright. I was kinda suprised by the gas mileage on the interstate. I actually got better gas mileage than stock. By the way the trip was 700 miles

then youre screwed if the turbo is spoolin the whole time.

i wouldnt recommend drivin a turbo'd car too far. gets too risky.

I recomend driving a turbo care where ever you want. I made a trip from dallas to south texas 9hr drive non-stop in the texas summer. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I drive the hell out of my car everywhere.

any special precautions?

for long drives i was thinking of disconnecting an IC pipe and just putting a filter on the end so the motor dosent see boost.
any harm caused this way?

Just dont give it WOT. There is a big misinformation about how boost works. You will NEVER boost unless you are at WOT. I can take my car all the way to redline without going into boost simple because there is no load. Your car will be just like a stock car. Just becuase you are at 4500rpm doesnt mean you are in boost. It all depends how much load you put and you will only get more load at wot.

DONT DISCONNET ANY PIPING. YOU WILL OVER REV YOUR TURBO and damage it.

Definitely don't disconnect the piping. You are asking for trouble

Hey, thanks for the replies guys. Also what is WOT? Do you mean you can shut off the turbo when you want? Dont know much about turbo or cars....but plannin on buying an engine hoist and ripping the engine outta my 90 civic.... just to see how much more I can screw it up...

13.5 hours straight, non-stop, hit the gas station and keep going...

no problems except at higher altitudes where the turbo decided to consume lots of gas going up hills

WOT = wide open throttle.

17+ hours straight, no problems.

Averaged 34 mpg. Whooped up on a itr w/ a 50 shot on the way too .

If your kit is installed correctly and has been properly maintained you'll have no problems.
