Well my second gear blew out today while casually driving to work... I really don't understand what happened but I'll be pulling the transmission out tonight.....

I just hope I fix it in time for H.I.N in two weeks




Also, yesterday while cruising around town a dodge viper pulled up next to me.... his reaction to me keeping up to him was priceless. He still beat me but god damn I'm so glad he didn't hand me my ***. I got one of the races on camera... he jumped me off the line cause I was trying to get my phone on video mode and show the chick how to work it...

Man that viper was pretty fukn Fast. You were close for about 5 seconds then the muscles began to show. Damn. Go turbo!!! How does S/C fair on built internals?

but when we raced from a roll it was so much closer! From a dig he obviously took me out of the hole bad lol

Now on to the technical: was second grinding? Have you been power shifting?

 

second was not grinding it never has. Was literally driving perfectly fine then it sounded like I put it into gear and didn't engage the clutch all the way... so I was like wtf... then it did it again but got worse and thats it... second gear is nasty.....

 

That's not good. I wonder if something was floating in the transmission and lodged. I'd also check the forks.

How is the engagement of 4th and 6th?

 

Second gear popup is pretty common for the RSX.. but you say your whole 2nd gear got owned so I'm not sure what to say about that .

 

third gear is the common popout gear I thought

my second definitely has broken teeth or something.

The car drives great on every other gear so I don't get it

 

Nooo it's the dreaded 2nd gear grind that is most common.

 

god damn I'm so pissed.... none of my damn friends will help me out taking the tranny out. I've done all the hard part just need help dropping it down...

only having one hand sucks *****

 

Buy a transmission jack for cheap.

I'll be opening it up at the shop later to see how much damage... I'll post pictures.

 

While it's out I'm also changing the final drive to the base 4.3 instead of the type-s 4.7 so I'll be able to use more of my power band.

 

please do ill like to also view what it is becuase im also having the same issue with my second gear! and everyone tells me that the dreaded on it is gone cuz all my gears go in perfectly fine also but if you show what it might be then i might be having the same issue and ill be havin to drop down my tranny dammit lolz but ive also heard that type s tranny are known for this

Looks like you used that gear to clutch break alot.
I've seen it happen before under heavy load.
What LSD,FD are you running with that k24?

 

Yep, something was floating and got lodged.

 

I'm now swapping from the 4.7 FD to the base 4.3 FD

 

u did all that with one hand?? **** i guess i really suck on working on my car with two hands then lol
