Driver Side Floor Mat Hook System Question
Information you might want to know before I ask my question:
-1998 USDM ITR
-I'm the 2nd owner, my cousin is the original
-Before I bought the car some items were stolen along with the floor mats
-I'm currently using those red "jdm style" ITR floor mats from eBay because I had nothing at all.
The question:
I'm tired of the mat bunching up at the pedals leaving me to always pull it back. I noticed other Integras had a hook that goes throough a hole in the floor mat to prevent it from moving. Thinking that mine was stolen along with everything else, I picked one up from a 98 GSR with the included screw. I went home and tried putting it on but couldn't find the hole (that's what I said). Did the 98 ITR not come with this setup? Is there an extra part I need to get this thing working? I don't want to put a self tapping screw in there to make a future rust spot.

My BNIB '01 oem mats from the dealership came with the hole for the anchor.
And my '01 ItR came with the anchor and slit in the carpet oem.

My 98 has the hole. You need to lift the flap in the carpet, after you finish cutting a slit. I put in EDM mats with the supplied anchor.
All of the '94-'01 Integra's have the hole for the stay. You just have to get the right floor mat. I used a plastic stay with more of a hook from a '01 to '05 Civic instead of the metal stump that requires a grommet and screw.
Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I'm just missing the plastic thing. I did see the precut carpet area.
If you look up the parts in the Acura parts catalog, those three part numbers above are listed only for the 2001 Integra, and not for any earlier year. (The way the parts catalog works, the same diagram is used for all years, but only the parts numbers pertaining to the particular year are listed below the diagram.)
Of course, you can buy them and install them in any year Integra.

In my 2000R I had the checkerboard mats and I have the same in my 98, I stand corrected if there is a cut flap, insert metal tab mounting system...
All those looking to do a new installation should try Honda part 08P14-S84-100R1. This part is metal, not plastic, and retails for under $7. It's identical to the high quality rug hook installed in ITRs.
Just ordered the parts. Ordered extra grommet and screws in case I goof it up - came to a whopping $6. WOW. This'll be the cheapest fix I've EVER made to my type-r.
Not only does your R have a square hole on the driver's side, it has an IDENTICAL hole on the passenger side as well. There is no carpet cutout like the driver's side, but you can find it with an awl or other sharp tool. Then you can hook the mats on both sides - a very slick solution.
I installed it this weekend. Took all of about 5 minutes and now the mat STAYS PUT!!!
I can't believe I've been trying to figure out how to jury rig this for months when there was already a solution!
And it only cost me about $6 for the parts (AND I got spares in case I screwed up).
HIGHLY recommended for anyone who has one of the newer mats with the hole (since those mats don't stay put on their own like the original 1998 mats which were heavier).
