Clutch Pedal started to squeak…
It wasn’t bad but start noticing that every time I clutch in, it squeaks both time when I press in and release. Is this telling me that the clutch cable is wearing off or is it the pedal assembly?
Forgot to mention but I have a 89 HF with B16 cable transmission...

mine squeaks too. I have over 200,000 on the clutch however haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary while shifting no grinds or sticking of the sort.
My pedal squeaks very loudly when its pressed and when it goes back up. I got a brand new clutch, brand new clutch cable, new flywheel, tb, hell I have a new trans in there haha. I sprayed the pedal assy. with not only WD40, but I tried some white lithium grease as well. It STILL squeaks just as loudly as ever. My theory is if I were to replace my pedal assy., it would solve the problem.

go to your local railroad tracks or railroad yard and scoop up some crater grease left by the tracks and put some on your pedal assembly and spring...that sob will grease it up perfect and will never come off...!!!

Mine was making a light squeak... WD-40... it's been 3k miles, no return... Just get under there with a few towels so you don't stain your carpet/mats.
its the pedal assembly. mine squeaked fo bout 2 months before it broke..
i replaced it in dec. i think and my new one is squeaking again so im gonna switch my dual diaphram pressure plate to a stock one so i dont have this problem again..

i think this would apply to ur situation. i use to have a squeak only when i depressed my clutch pedal. i sprayed some lithium grease inside the boot which was located left of the slave cylinder.
There is like a ball and joint type of thing that squeaks i guess when it loses it's grease.
