09 honda civic si warranty
so i want to do work on my car but i don't want to void out my warranty on my car...would anyone know how far i can go without voiding my warranty on my 09 honda civic si with only 1300 miles on it
don't mess with your new car. if something fails slightly related to one of your modifications, you're screwed. How much do you owe on it? If you owe anything I wouldn't mess with it yet.
I still owe alot on my si too its all good.

The Magnusson-Moss Warranty act is all you need my friend, the burden of proof is with the dealer and American Honda and that the part(s) must have caused or contributed to the cause for which the warranty claim was sought. Even then they can't void your warranty, only deny the claim.

On an 09 most of us still owe a lot on them. Unless you where lucky enough to have a large down payment and a trade in. Yeah if I where you I would keep the mods simple intake, header, exhaust, stay away from mods to the electrical system and engine for a while.

Most of us aren't mechanics or licensed technicians.
More likely than not, if you install parts correctly there will be no problems, and you will not have to worry about whether you have a warranty or not. It is only once you do something stupid that you have to worry about your warranty.
And if you've done something stupid, causing problems with your car, more likely than not the dealership will deny your warranty claim. While they may not technically revoke your warranty, what is the point of possessing a warranty which one cannot file claims under?
Mine is under 1000 miles, I'm tempted to put a 55 shot on it
. I just bought a cai and have a deal on a evo2 that im thinking about. I wouldn't suggest putting FI/Nitrous tho if you have no idea what your doing. If it's financed why not it's your car if it's a lease then it's different as it's not your car but you can always part it out after.

The way they put it to me when I bought my 09 Si was, "Say you put an intake on and all of a sudden your brakes stop working - obviously the intake has nothing to do with it so it won't void your warranty on that part". Basically they break it down to if your mod did the damage to that certain part that needs work then they won't cover it.
hutzman, if it weren't for people like you, who don't know jack about what they are talking about, spreading erroneous information around you wouldn't have to worry about anyone being an azzhole.
Know what you are talking about before you put your foot in your mouth.
So long as the dealer trouble shooted and investigated im all good. It's the dealers that give the vehcile the once-over, see after market parts and blame the problem on the parts or tell the customer their warranty is voided due to the parts on a legitimate warranty claim.
Like my bout with GM back in 2000, I had a cold air intake, MSD DIS2 ignition box, axleback exhaust and a 59mm broed factory TB and they blamed the spun crank bearings on my parts. There was a service bulletin siting enegine produced between month/1999 - month/2000 were prone due to the oiling system.
They didn't even investigate, they just said your warranty was void and got the zone rep to put a drive train warranty block on my vehicle.
Sad to say for GM, not only did they lose in arbitration, they bought my vehicle back and I got an $8,000 settlement.

If you decide to swap out some stock parts for performance ones, just keep all the original parts. So then if you do have a major problem and are in need of a warranty repair, just swap everything back and then take it to Honda.
well it depends on the dealer that you take your car too and what you done to the car. i do not have a newer civic but i have a 95 civic coupe witch i have had seince new. the only thing i did to the car was intake, lower, and full cat back system. but after having the car for but 7 it was making noise in the front took it in and they had a rep come to look at it. days later they told me to pick the car up.
hope this helps you out in any way.
