confused on what to do?
I have a 93 prelude that came from the factory with an h23. I bought the car after this engine had already blown. I talked to some honda guys and they said the h22 swap would be easy and that all the connectors would hook right up and i would just have to wire in the vtec solenoid. So i went out and bought and h22a1 obd1 and i was just plaining on using the wiring harness from that anyway but when i got it it was cut and the old wiring harness doesnt match up i was just wondering why this is and what action can i do that will be the cheapest and least time consuming.
yeah man its real easy i did the same thing. you will also need a new downpipe! everything matches up and all connectors and sensors will work. the baby blue wire in the car side of the shock tower (beside the under hood fuse pannel) is your vtec pressure switch wire, and just ground the other one (two pin connector, doesn't matter witch side) and then the solinoid is one wire found on the passenger side fender well wall, front part. behind the battery, can't miss it goes into nothing! good luck
actually thats the problem that im having sorry i wasnt more clear before. Ive looked, none of my connectors match up thats why im confused because i wanted to use the original but i cant ive tried looking up the block numbers and everything else but cant figure it out. The only thing that i could think of is it being a jdm engine but i doubt it. It has the H22A stamped with the block number 3045637 under it. it also has a t4103c stamped into it along with of course the p13. I just dont understand because the connectors should work and then just wire in the vtec but this is the first swap ive done on anything that hasnt been old school muscle and im not liking it to much. Any input would help. Thanks
the only way for the connectors to not match up is if the new harness was obd2. i have done the same swap in my 92. just hook your harness back up to the orginal motor and start labeling each connector. since this is your first swap take your time on it. dont need to rush anything especially since your gunna be learning as you progress through the swap.
edit: not all 93 models came pre-wired for vtec you could possibly be one of the unlucky ones. here is a link that could help you out a bunch.
