Default Speedo Adjust

Well, now I've done it. I put 225/35/17s on my car because I got them for a steal. Only problem, the speedo says I'm going 5 mph faster. So can Honda adjust this, or would they charge me?

And second, what is the widest tire I could get away with on a lowered Si? Would 235/45/17s work, or would they rub? I just love the way these cars look with wider tires.

Offset the extra weight with lighter rims?

What does weight have to do with my speedo? Its based on wheel revolutions.

you speedo should not be 5mph off, that seems like too much when you're still using a 17inch wheel and tire. And honda will not recalibrate your speedo. If you don't want it to be off, then don't change wheel/tire sizes.

Wrong... Lets say his spedo reads 60 then he would actually be going 56.5

I have 245/30/19's with HFP suspension. No rubbing. The wheels are 19x8 55mm offset and I have 20mm H & R spacers to clear the wilwood brakes. So that would effectively make the wheels a 35mm offset. I've seen 8.5" wheels installed but I prolly wouldn't reccommend going with 245's tho

Believe it or not I do get tired of being a smart *** sometimes!

Does the dealer have that capability? I was hoping the flashpro would be able to do that?

I'd say Honda would do it, since they DO offer 18" HFP wheels. Wouldn't think they'd let their customers drive with an incorrectly calibrated speedometer.

thats true. but then again, your odometer would be off and display incorrect mileage. but even if you change wheel/tire size, its going to be incorrect anyways. hmm political debate?

I was checking all the tire packages that come on our cars when I was trying to see if the Accord HFP 19's I wanted would fit.

Even if you get the HFP 18's the overall diameter's of the tires are so close the effect that it has on the speedo and odometer is negligable. That's why they don't bother recalibrating the gauges. I would like to know if they can even do that anyway. I have the type r upper and lower gauges and they can't make them work for me.

thats because you have to cut all the wires and relocate them in the proper place on the back of the harness. the main issue is getting the little vtec tach to work.

I'm not sure but I think it's more complicated than that. Streetlightz in Cali imports those gauges and says it's not pin location on the harness but possibly a module or something that controls the fucntions. I forget what they called it exactly. But fuel read empty. vtec gauge didn't read. coolant temp didn' work, nor did the speed but I forget now.

it has to deal with the pins because the gauges are on different locations on the type-r. cuz theres 2 different wiring harnesses for the speedo and the tach.

Honda does not, and will not recalibrate a speed, tampering with one is considered illegal, just as much as changing the milage on one.
