Default Race car Wiring question

i have a d16z6 working on pm6 ecu, the car is boosted and its only a track car CRX, i'm going obd1, i know i need the dizzy and the ecu, but i wanna custom made my own harness to minimize the wiring in the car.

what is the minimum wires i need for the engine to work?!

i know i need 7 wires from the dizzy, 4 from the injectors, tps, iat...

what else?!

thanks

The minimum set of wires you need to run the car and their pinouts are all listed in this obd0-1 conversion thread. You can use the pinouts as a starting point for a list of wires that you need to have in order for the ecu to function.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/d-i-y-faq-obd-0-obd-1-pinouts-conversion-help-1319235/

I would run wires for every sensor listed in the obd1 conversion, but with a few minor modifications.

You need all the wiring to run the ECU, plus the wiring to run the fuel pump and the wiring to start and shut off the car, which could just be a master kill switch and a starter toggle and a fuel pump switch, and If you substitute an electric VSS you dont need the guage cluster. the cooling system could be run off the thermo switch on the back of the block and tied to a fused battery voltage distribution block or through a toggle on a panel.

the fuel pump will work on a separated switch, i dont need VSS too cuz i only need RPM, i'll be using PO8 ecu and and chip it, and disable sensors like VSS, KS, Oil pressure.

i only need to power the ECU, injectors, spark. what else?

map sensor..

some of the stuff on your list to disable I haven't seen done before. There isn't an option in crome to disable oil pressure sensing, for example..

I think an easier way to do this would be to give us the full list of stuff you already know you need, along with the list of stuff you know for sure you can disable in whatever EMS you are using, and we can point out any gaps from there. Otherwise this is just a guessing game.

well you can probably remove all wiring that has to do with your stereo, all tail light wiring and rear wiper wiring (it's there even if you don't have rear a wiper), the turn signal wiring, window squirter wiring, headlight wiring, probably the IAT wiring, o2 sensor wiring, rev. light wiring, fan switch wiring... idk use your imagination. figure out what all you can delete in your ecu and still have a good running motor THEN start pulling ish out.

keep the entire engine harness intact strip out the lights, horn and other useless crap you wont need any more to make trouble shooting easier in the futer.

-_- People getting off track.
Sounds like he already has stripped all the wiring for stuff he doesn't have.
Question is simple as he put it in his original post -
What wires minimum are needed to run the engine.

I think your best bet is to look at the ECU program you are going to use to disable sensors and work from there.
Wire up everything the program can't disable.

so i guess i only need 9 wires from dizzy, 8 from injectors, map, ECT, IAT, VTEC, and Vtec pressure, alternator and VSS.

my fuel pump and radiator fan are on a separated switch, even my head lights i kept them on a switch.

i'm keeping my dash for a while untill i get my gauges. i'll be using Chrome on a basemap and disable all sensors.
