Can't make up my f**kin' mind!
I have read a lot of build threads... Read a lot about engines, the different series and such...
I don't know what I want to do for a build though!
Like a lot of people, I would love to go K-series... but I just cannot afford it.
B-Series sounds great... B16 sounds fun, but seems under-rated for power vs cost. Engine is cheap, but the axles and mounts kill me.
D-Series sounds fun. Turbo build, ZC DOHC. Simple, but not fast...
Then I was reading about the F-Series... I can get an F22 engine for $850, with VTEC... but there is not a lot of direction with those things. I couldn't find a simple guide or anything. Stock tranny can be used... but I cannot find the adapter plate for it. I cannot get a true grasp on the cost of it.
Same thing goes for H-Series.
I don't want B-Series. I want something that isn't really around here. There is a B18 in town, and a B16. I want something that is unique, with possibility of turbo in the future. Is that possible with an F-Series engine?
H-T. Give me some guidance.

I don't understand what you mean by "there is not a lot of direction with those things." From your post, it seems like B and K are out. Yes, turbo is possible on an F-series engine (or any engine for that matter).
and for the love of god, why F series?? on top of the drama of getting it to fit right, you then have the problem of making it fast. there is some support for the f-series, but not like there is for the b-series.
if i had $10k and nothing but time, i would be going turbo b16b, mainly because i like ridiculous revs.
You can get a b20b for $549, and buy mounts and shift linkage for it in HTMarket place or the FS/WTB thread for like $300 and a obd1 ecu conversion harness for $120. Good luck putting the f-series in for less than a grand unless you own a welder and lots of patience. Its cool to be different, but you have to be able to afford it.
The only advice i have is to take your current budget, subtract 20% for the mysteries you don't yet know the cost of, and do something within that price range. Nothing is worse than running out of money in the middle of a build, or trying to half *** your way to a working car. It just makes life suck that much more.

It's probably the cheapest motor to modify to get high hundreds in horsepower.
Quite a bit of aftermarket support...it's technically an H series.
F tranny's are econo shitboxes. (like worse than D series) run an F2D or F2B and you're golden.
Really nowhere to go but up on them. Since stock they have shitty compression, shitty gear ratios, overly mild cam...

If I were you Id get a B series and just make that motor unique. Like sure go turbo but eventually buy parts that no one has around where you live. Mix it up. Thats just me though. But its up to you what you do. You can go H series too you know? But it aint any easier lol

if you want a unique setup.... you bought the wrong car haha.
almost every engine, two engines, mid engine, if it can even half fit, its been done.
if you want unique for your area, convert your car to AWD with a cheapish d series engine. the civic4 setup takes a lot of punishment and if you eventually add more power that thing would be fast and fun as hell...
A decent amount of fab work required though.

Ive obviously seen what Bisi and others have done with the F, so I know they are no slouch. I just want to convey the point that there are much easier, cheaper, out of the box ways to 200 hp or 300 hp than an f series in an EF. Who cares if someone else in your town has a b series. Hell there are probably 50 people in my town that have b swaps in an EF. People choose them because it is a simple swap and it works, over and over again and can reliably make huge hp if you are so inclined.
If you say that there are a hand full of ef's in your area and they all have B swaps than there is very little to do to be "different," Go vtec on your little d series via an ob2 swap and a mini-me if your on a tight budget or if your budget allows it just drop the whole D16z6 motor in. Then slap a turbo on, either frankentstein one together or by a edelbrock kit etc. and Bam!! your different and be smoking the B series guys...my 0.02 cents
Personally do a boosted D series, it's a pretty budget friendly setup, you can do a homemade setup, depending if you want the function over form or if you want it to look pretty it's going to cost a decent amount.
I personally have a boosted b16 in my car and it's causing me alot of problems due to space constraints. My radiator is tilted etc, it's just a hassle because of the manifold n such.

If I could do it again I'd have not clicked this thread.
You know what you want and can afford to do, so do it stop asking other people what they would do with YOUR car.

Please do not post things of this nature that just are not true.
If you could also refrain from posting things with out a good backing, people would learn and respect your thoughts more.
