great job on this good info here. a great alternative to hondata. the retail price is actually 250. for all the guys who already have neptune, eCtune or crome(soon to be supported) thats the only cost.

The price is 250 for the hardware only. The software license needs to be purchased separately or you can buy both together as a package, which is what he has listed.

Thanks for throwing that together. I don't do the tuning to my vehicle, but this atleast lets me see which way I'd like to go in the future very quickly (already running Neptune). Not that I had a choice or my tuner would beat me.

I know there is other diferences (stain guage, auto tune) that hondata has, but most people will never use it.

does Neptune have the ability to configure the display?
I know some guys like to make their S300 displays all fancy and stuff with elaborate backgrounds...
I'm not after that specifically, but I found the customizable display feature of the S300 came in handy for all the vital engine parameters I wanted to monitor in a format and location that made the most sense to me.

im going h22 on boost and i need to run of these but i definetly dont know anything about any of them seeing as how i never used any in the past i need as much help as possible
The datalogging review/playback is significantly better with the S300.. (you dont have to hit play, and then pause, to scroll through the datalog)
You never need to figure out what com port the S300 is on, it always detects it and works.
The Neptune software does support fuel pump always on. (comes in handy when draining the tank for a fuel change).
The Demon has the USB port in a retarded spot, so you then have to cut the hole in the case, AND drill holes to mount the cable that comes with it.
The GUI on the S300 software is significantly better.
The S300 software supports the 4 bar map sensors, without having to find the info and type it in every damn time. (this bugs the hell out of me).
As you mentioned, strain gauge support in the S300.
The copy/paste feature in the S300 software is quick, in Neptune, you have to check a bunch of stupid boxes to get it done, it's a waste of time.
With some rewriting of the software, Neptune could be so much easier and nicer to use.. I've been using the both of these pieces of software for many years, and have tuned hundreds of cars using these systems..

Matters what USB you have to use. If you mount it outside the ECU it works out better
As for the 4bar map, yeah, it needs to be added

although both systems run the car great, i had so many problems with datalogging with s300 it was stupid, never had that problem on rtp (had experience with both and would choose the rtp unless hondata gave me an s300 for free lol)
ill probally get flamed for this but s300 is slow i have tuned 2 cars on it and the upload for insatnt change is pretty slow i have seen video's of neptune up load and its way faster
s300 all day its gui is better and for somebody to just make small changes you cant beat s300 ive used neptune/rtp and wouldent touch another neptune ecu.
Try and keep the general bashing to a minimum please. Its a good idea to high light the differences of each, only if you have direct information that applies to things that are written in to the ecu or the software.
We probably don't need another Hondata vs. crome vs. neptune vs. ec tune vs. pectel vs. marelli vs. motec vs. uberdatas

I know this thread is old but I have watched it but just haven't posted in it.
The difference between the two really comes down to personal preference. I have tuned both but I primarily tune with neptune and have become very familiar with it.
There are many things that neptune offers that make it a little more versatile than the S300. Some of them are the flexibility of the fuel cut control, different frequencies for multiplie boost solenoids, ability to disable the VE tables, etc.
Also the use of outputs and test outputs that you can use with the Key on Engine off, which the S300 does not allow. I can test vtec without starting the car with NepTune and with the S300 it won't allow it to enable the output without the car running. (atleast I have yet to figure that out).
Also another thing I find very useful with NepTune is the fuel pump always on feature which makes it easier to drain the tank when switching fuels.
The S300 might be a little bit easier to use for a person who is just learning how to tune, since everyone seems to like the GUI. But to be honest I find NepTune to easier to navigate with all of the quick keys that are built in. It just takes some time to get the hang of everything, which if you don't tune cars everyday you might never utilize.
So IMO it really all comes down to personal preference.
For ME you can't beat the flexibility or stability of the NepTune software for the cost.
(and btw.. the omni 3 and 4 bar were both added to the RTP software a little bit ago. I just saw that as one of the things missing from neptune further up)
