Icon6 02 TL Rear Wheel Bearing Assembly Replacement Help???

I have an Acura TL 2002 that I have to replace the Rear Wheel bearing on after some severe rubbing. I'm pretty handy but, I'm having trouble getting the new after-market Timken Bearing Assembly onto the spindle??? It goes on to a point and then stops and won't go past it. I can slide the old bearing with the ***** in it back and forth with no problem but the new one without the ***** isn't working.

I also went to Honda this am and its the same replacement part for twice the price of Autozone.

any thoughts? or help with this replacement and installation?

Thanks in advance

I have a 1997 acura rl and just replaced my rear wheel bearings with no problem. They were autozone timkens. I had a little trouble with the spindle nut because the spindle threads were slightly damaged but other than that no problem. Maybe check to be sure they gave you the right ones from autozone.

So your new bearing slid right on?? Weird, I went to Autozone and Murray's and bought both but, I will verify the part #'s on the Boxes today.
Sucks to have worked so hard and have to throw my wheel back on last night to.

Thanks

Is your emergency brake off? I remember having to disengage that in order to get the brake rotor off. Mine went right on. Just checking.

Yep. Rotor is off and I even took the hub nut off successfully. The old Bearing assembly is off as well but this new one just won't slide on completely.

The old one goes on and off without a hitch though. I'm going to verify the part number on the box today though.

Thanks for the input

is the rear bearing race still stuck on the spindle? usually when i pull off the rear bearing/hub on the 99-03 TL's the rear bearing race will get stuck and i have to air hammer em off or take some channel locks to em.

That must be why the old wheel bearing can slide on and off so nicely. I believed that was the case but, wanted to make sure.

Now to actually get it off with some channel locks. I'm guessing I'm trying to get it to turn a little.

Wish me success.

OK. Thanks for all the help. Channel Locks and a piece of Rubber casing helped in gripping and sliding the Race off.
