Mini Me conversion questions
Morning,
So as I have said before, I do not have much Honda experience as I am a Nissan guy but my son loves his CRX. The catch is the car seems to have a bad case of allergies. Every time the wether takes a dramtic change it blows the Head Gasket. I believe in the year and a half that we have owned the car it has been replaced 3 times, while a pain it is not expensive or hard to do.
So as the weather jumped into summer two weeks ago, the car did it again. As we have been reading we found that the Mini- ME solution maybe a good answer or at least a way to eliminate one of the items that could be causing the problem.
After doing allot of reading up on this swap here is what we are thinking, but would like thoughts or productive input. We are planing on running the stock computer and intake for now, but may upgrade later in the summer. We also have the following parts ordered or in mind.
D16Y8 Head with cam Gear and valve cover
V tech Solenoid
Summit RPM Switch
D16Y8 Timing Belt
D16Y8 NKG Spark Plugs and and wire set
New head bolts
Items not sure on
Thinking the D16Y8 Head gasket kit, but do we need the full kit or just the head gasket and the other gaskets from the stock head?
Fuel pressure regulator. Most articles I saw are for the Z6 swap called for the 92-95 FPR but as I am doing the Y8 do I need the 96-200 FPR or just by an aftermarket. If I buy aftermarket any suggestions?
Any other parts that you think I will need or should get before putting it all back together?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is completely Noob

im about to mini me mine with the y8 head and it seems the more you rersearch into it, the more confusing it gets, everyone does it differently so im interested to see how this works as well
using an rpm switch to activate the VTEC is a bad idea - when VTEC engages, the engine needs more fuel and needs the ignition timing advanced - without using a VTEC ECU to control these functions, the engine is not going to run correctly - the best thing to do is to convert the car over to OBD1 and use an OBD1 P28 VTEC ECU which will control the VTEC, fuel and ignition
%100 dead on. this is exactly what you have to do. if your still running an obd0 set up. your vtec is pointless.

i was gonna do the same thing on my del sol.
def get the p28
i had a vtec e comp. but i was told i could chip it. idk what the abriviation was for it..
i would hold out on the cam gear unless you were gonna put a cam in it.
never read anything about changing the fpr tho..
if im thinking correctly you have the d15b2?? correct me if im wrong but you would have to have at least the y8 or z6 manifold and throttle body..
