Speaking from experience, it's hard to be sure if you got them all out without a diagram. What are you drivin? if your starter is on top there are one or two hiding behind it that are tough to spot. If you got them all out it shouldn't be difficult to separate.

Also, is it A/T or M/T? If you post your vehicle info I might be able to get any info you could want from the manufacturer

If you use a a rubber hammer or a dead blow hammer, tap the case on the end closest to the pass side, just kinda hit it back and forth and the trans will move back and forth until it's past all the dowel pins.

Hope this helps.

88crx si (manual) the flywheel inspection plate bolt is stripped so i forced the boltholes i saw on the engine side past the bolts so they wont interfer. My manual says there are 5 but i may be counting a couple of the starter bolts so i will definately check there.
Could the Inspection plate be my problem because it seems like that side is harder to pry.

there is one bolt kinda behind the starter whose head is on the engine side, not the trans side. you have to get under the car and reach up almost under the intake manifold to find it. the rest of the bolts are like the ones by the distributor, going from trans side to engine side. If you missed that bolt, that would explain it.

You probably got that one though, but just in case.

yea it sure is. if its still there the back of the flywheel will hit it and prevent tranny removal. so either you find an ingenious way to get the bolt out, or bend/cut the **** out of that plate so that the flywheel will clear it.

i always just pull the motor and tranny together when i change the clutch... sure is alot easier to line things up and torque them to spec...
