Default awd question

I have heard that the viscous coupling on honda awd system is a piece of crap.
Does it have a solution to replace him.
If I put a direct drive shaft, does it really affect driving on snow and on road.
I think the car will jerk a little bit with a direct system and it will be a problem because the car will be a winter beater.
I need a solution before buying my crv drivetrain

Honda AWD (SH-AWD) does not include a coupler, you're thinking of the RT4WD system.

Without it, its full time 4WD. You'll need to scrub tires to turn. Its not the best thing to drive on pavement, but is fine in the dirt/snow.

No, the drive to the rear diff on the CRV drivetrain cannot be disabled, unless you remove the driveshaft. On the Civic Wagon there is a small lever on the transmission that can be moved from 2WD to 4WD using a 10mm wrench. The CRV does not have this capability inside the transmission.

The coupler is, by design, meant to slip a little. you will not be able to refill the fluid either.
