I believe my head gasket is leaking. I'm not sure if it's the head bolts that is loose or what. Anyone ever have a problem with the head bolts being loose.

I don't want to wait until it blows which may cause damage to the block/engine. Should I use the stock head gasket or COMETIC one? ITs for 00 SI JR SC at 6lb soon to be 9lb.

How much is for labor?? 500+???

Stock has always worked well for most people. For big boost applications if you go turbo I would get an Inline Head gasket to lower compression.

 

Just wondering if the intake manifold will need to be taken out to get the head gasket replaced?

 

I've got a '99 Si and mine started leakig a week or two ago. I'll be replacing mine with a Cometic HP .057"

You can keep the intake manifold bolted to the head as you pull it out.

 

Thanks! Do you know what size is the stock head gasket? Is the thickness .057" ? Bore size 82 mm?

 

I think stock thickness is .026" and I think stock bore is 81mm

 

I do belive the stock bore is 81mm.
