Post EG DIY lip build

Hello all,

so i was sitting arond comparing lips online, cost vs. rarity and cleanliness. ebay lips looked horrible and i heard they had terrible fitment. the oem jdm one seemed to plain for my personal taste. the spoon one was out of my price range as well as the J's racing one.

and ive never worked with fiberglass so i decided to build my own...

here is what ive done so far. if anyone has any questions id be happy to answer them.

thank you for all the positive comments guys. i hate to whine but it truly is hard work...measuring everything, laying the fiberglass, cutting the chicken wire, etc. but i think in the end it will pay off...i dont care if i have a green lip for the next few days...the rest of the car doesnt look dope...and im happy with it. taking it a little bit at a time now....

and a big part of this is that i just wanted to be origional and play a little bit with fiberglass. ive gotten the body filler stuff down...but ive never made my own part. i think this experience will save me some money in the end...i can just make my own skirts and lips and stuff. thanks again guys.

yes and no. i screwed on the chicken wire with self threading screws. and between the mesh and the bumper there is tape...in case i ever wanted to take it off...it would just peel off with the tape. and the screws can be dremmeled off from the backside of the bumper. plus the bumper is an ebay one. 60 shipped. the stock one got ripped to peieces in my accident.

I modified a synthetic gun stock before using fiberglass so I just have a couple pointers if anyone is looking at trying this.
The green fiberglass resin is a jelly and it's easier for shaping and building stuff up. I think the liquid gives a nicer product, even though you need more patience since it's liquid and everything stays flimsy until it's set.
If you sand the fiberglass before it's totally set, it's much easier than waiting for it to be cured. Same as with the body filler, there's a certain stage where it's hard enough to not deform, but not too hard not to be able to work it easily. Also the less you monkey with it in the first place, the smoother it seems to stay.

Release agents such as wax and aluminum foil would help in removing a part.

The home depot also makes a nice lip. I got mine from there for my del sol and I only paid $9.82 with tax, and I even have a spare!
