Woohoo i give up on this problem and decided its time to find someone who may knows whats going on

1995 Civic with 545,000miles on it. while engine running at any rpm theres a grinding noise coming from the head area consistently. i have so far changed the dizzy ( another working one) and have taken the plastics off the timing cover area.
i can't see what else it can be is the engine ready to crap out?

 

545,000 Miles? Pull the valve cover, the cam is most likely grinding into one of the cam caps.

You sound shocked about the mileage... its just broke in HAHA

Ok, I'll look at the caps, but i clearly remember not seeing any shavings since i took the valve cover off to remove the timing covers.

 

could be a loose valve clearence. Check it.

 

loose valve clearance? what is the spec on torque/ feeler gauges then?
drove the car wide open last night, the grinding seems to get faster as the revs go up...
i'll recheck the valves. and the cam caps look fine, hard to believe these things would rotate so much to last this long.

Time for a new engine? I might get a B18C5 for it...

 

Last bump, next update i'll buy a new engine. DD needs to be driven everyday not parked in my garage broken HAHA.
yea im thinking B18C5? kind of want to get the engine if you know what i mean.
