Usually, I use this forum for a wealth of information concerning DIYs. I've searched on this site but no luck concerning my specific question about clutches.

Recently, I purchased a 1996 Civic EX 5 spd. The original clutch has about 155,000 miles. I'm wanting to change it out soon and a good friend of mine gave me his old Integra GSR clutch. Not really sure what the year of his Integra is but I know for sure it was from a 94-01 year. My question is, will the Integra GSR clutch fit in my current Civic transmission?

On some online site stores, the clutch application for a GSR Integra (94-01)says it will also fit a 99-00 Civic SI. I'm just taking a wild guess here, but I thought the tranmission is the same for all 96-00 Civic including the SI. Is this correct?

If your car has the original engine in it, it should be the d16y8.
the 99-00 civic SI has a B16.

If the clutch came out of a GSR its a B series clutch,
B and D series clutches are not interchangeable.

 

What exactly is different about the two clutches? Is it the pattern of the bolts?

 

Splines count and diameter are different for B and D Series, and 99-00 Civic SI is in a category of its own when it comes to 96-00 Civics.
