Default head oil control orifice fitting

Sup guys, i am rebuilding my engine and before putting on the head my buddy pushed the head oil control orifice into the block so it is not flush with the deck anymore. the only problem is that he told me that after the head was on. So i just want to make sure if i have to make sure the orifice isn't pressed into the block and is flush with the deck? Also, if i have to pop it out, how do i do it, and can i reuse the brand new headgasket and brand new head bolts or is it too late since all the bolts were torqued down? Thanks alot guys

he said he heard a clunk sound when he pushed on it, he said he gave it a good amount of pressure to do the clunk noise. is there any chance he broke the tip or something? thanks guys

No its fine when you install them they will press down a little lower, the oil pressure will bring them back to deck height. As long as you cleaned it out good and installed new oring you are good to go.

I always remove them during teardown before machining. You should definitely remove, clean and replace the o ring before putting the head on.

so you definitely think i should remove the head and remove the orifice? Can i keep the head bolts even if they've been torqued once? Can i keep the headgasket or i need a new one. Thanks man

If the motor hasnt been started re-using the gasket is fine. Some people have had luck re-using hadgasket (me being one, was really tight on money) after the motor has been ran. The head bolts are fine.

And as for the orfice, you can take the head off and check just to make sure. Theres no reason to chance your motor over something as little as that. Mind aswell clean and put a new o-ring on it while you got it out.

ok, sounds good. You think the headgasket and headbolts are still good even if my CR will be 11:1

yeah. they should be fine. But you can always get new if you are really that worried. You can go ahead and get some arp's, ge, aebs,.....etc headstuds. Headgaskets are cheap, or you can get like a cometic where they are said to be re-usable.

If the motor has not been started you will be fine reusing it, he just wants to sell another gasket.

If that was towards me, i never said to get another gasket. I could care less about him re-using or getting a new one. And i already told hom he could re-use, and ppl have had luck with re-using used headgaskets. I just told him he could get a new gasket if he was really that worried. Why would i care, i aint making no money. lol.

One can only give so much advice. Especially if they are that worried and kinda already chose there path.
