I have a couple technical questions regarding the article Katman featured on his site (ffsquad.com) that is based on swapping in a JDM OBD2 engine into a OBD1 vehicle. ( I would ask him, but he seems to be ignoring my messages
lol.)
I would just like some more info on how to connect the VTS found on the JDM engine. I know that I will have to use a USDM OBD2 Vtec engine harness from a 96' and up Integra and splice the VTPS wiring to the VTS on the jdm motor (could I just cut off the VTPS connector on the engine harness and use a quick connect or solder the VTPS positive wire to the VTS signal wire and just ground the VTPS negative to the Vtec Solenoid body?).
Will a USDM GSR engine harness fit the JDM ITR Motor correctly? Will the engine harness connectors from the USDM GSR plug up to the connectors that are found at the shock towers on my 94 Ls? Would I have to alter anything under the dash of my LS? Im planning on using a reprogramed OBD1 p28. Would I need to use this to make things work? http://rywire.com/store/9400-integra...c82735e5f7d2e9 <- would this cause any complications connecting the p28? Sorry if these are frequently asked questions, Ive never really dealt with vtec or OBD2. I would really appreciate your help.

I would suggest, that your use your usdm engine harness, but since yours is an ls you would need to wire the vtec wires. Being obd 1 i believe you can use any vtec wire harness, any would due i suppose, aslong as it is obd-1. You can use the gsr harness, but a couple plugs wont get used. hope this helps a bit. The only altering under the dash would have to be just for connecting vtec to the ecu. A chipped p28 would be good, aslong as the fuel maps are specifically for your motor.

Its depends which harness you are using. Any usdm obd1 engine bay harness will connect to each other. The only difference is whether it should have vtec or not, and yours being an ls did not come pre-wired with vtec, so you would have to run your own wires from the vtec solenoid to the ecu. Below link will help with wiring vtec:

a jdm itr will directly swap into a usdm gsr. i have one in mine and the cfs, second o2 & evap purge are ignored with the jdm ecu. this of course reminds me to ask, why a chipped ecu on a stock engine? if you want to run obd1 check on distributor issues since the jdm dizzy is basically the same as an obd2 td-84u
