heres a quick summary of my problem

my tachometer occassionally bounce around

when i am at WOT, the car sometimes hit a "rev limit like state" but is nowhere near the redline,

car starts up fine

car drives fine if not being aggressive


could it be a problem with the ignitor?

 

Is the CEL ON?

Yeah, a bouncing tach hints at a bad igniter unit. Pull it out and have an auto parts store test it for you.

 

Yes it is cause I have the same problems and I have confirmed its the igniter.

 

no check engine light

will a pepboys ignitor (warranty?) as reliable as a oem honda ignitor?

 

Aftermarket IMO doesnt work as good as oem, but if it comes with a lifetime warranty then, its all good. You can always upgrade to an msd blaster coil, and your problem will be solved for many years to come.

 

OEM first. tell your wallet you will be nice and leave a fat 5 dollar bill in it later after purchasing the better parts (OEM of course)
