Default Electrical cuts in and out randomly while driving

My Sister's 96 Accord LX has started acting strange lately. She says that while she is driving, all electrical seems to cut out randomly. Her guage needles will drop to 0, all dash lights will shut off and possibly the radio as well (she didn't have the radio on at the time)

What's strange is that the car will continue to drive normally. The engine doesn't cut out. Only the electrical on her dash. She says she also hears sort of a click every time it happens. It will cut out for a few seconds at a time. It may happen around 3 to 4 times when simply taking a trip to the store. This has never happened before.

Has this ever happened to anyone? Does anyone know what this might be?

Thanks.

Its probably the alternator. I am having this same bullshit problem right now. It's not really a big deal to me. It's just that the nut on the bottom of the alternator is completely stripped and being a bitch. It doesn't want to come off so I have to find a way to get it off before I can do anything.
