Default Taking AC Out....Anything behind the dash?

Aight, I just took the A/C compressor, condessor, lines, fan, etc. etc. out of my 2000 Civic Si all together like 30lbs. of stuff.

I was just wondering if there was anything behind the dash worth taking out? Also, I want the vents to still work so if I take out anything out thats behind the dash that will eliminate the vents to work, then forget about it. Let me know.

Thanks,
Jay

Yeah I ordered a black button from honda so it will look like there is no AC. I just want it to look like the car came with no AC.

there is the box with the (condenser??) i think thats what its called. the lines from the engine bay go directly into that box. replace it with a non ac boxif you want.

Does that box have any weigth to it? It prolly has filters, etc. in it. would the non AC box have less weight. I just want it to look as if it came from honda like this. Also, where is this box located behind the dash?

The evaporater is behind the dash. Thats what the lines in the firewall go to. To take it out remove the glove box and get a 10 mm sockect with a long extension, theres about 6 bolts holding it in. I would guess it weighs about ten lbs. Your going to need the ducting from a non ac civic to connect the blower to the vents. I use to throw these away weekly when I worked at the honda dealer and installed ac. But you should be able to order it for 10-20 dollars.

if your car is a 94+ civic you can discharge it yourself if im correct, only 92-93 models had the only r12 in there that was harmfull to the earth.. the new r13 is not as bad and i have heard or people just discharging it by releasing the presure on the lowside connector under the hood..

Will leaving the AC box in and not replacing it with the non-ac box affect performance or weight or anything? Will it hurt to leave it in?

It will reduce weight. the heater will still work if you leave the evap in.
It is illegal to release r12 or r134a into the atmosphere.

Leaving the stock AC box on my 95 ex will reduce weight opposed to the non ac box?? hmmmm sounds fishy
