Help w/ DD Gas Mileage Build!
I am about to rebuild my spare b16 and put it in a EG Sedan
I want to bulid the motor to get over 50mpg if possible, and be on as low of a budget as possible
** i dont care about power **
here is what i was thinking
B16 long block, rebuilt to OEM Specs
LS Tranny
Intake
Exhaust
Header
Intake Mani
tuned on Neptune RTP
anyone have any other ideas i could do to improve gas mileage want to get as much as possible

wrong, a properly tuned turbo setup out of throttle will yield better MPGs than an NA setup. If you want 50+mpgs, id look into a tuned D15 with an a6 cam and z6 intake. With a GOOD tune it can easily do 45mpgs like its nothing. Same with a d16-t or b16-t. You also need to take into account the efficency range of the motor and the tranny you are going to use. Just because you have a long geared tranny doesnt mean you will get better MPGs. If you want a super MPG build its going to take careul thinking and planning

if everything is tuned properly and its raised the rightway, not just a hughe dome on the pistons. If your quench is tight and the piston has a relatively small dome than you can do that
My Del Sol Si with a D16 with basic bolt ons hit 38mpg 100% highway with 87 octane.
Greddy Header, Test Pipe, stock muffler
K&N filter in the stock air box
tuned with a S300 in a P28
121whp/101tq
With head work and manifold work I bet I could see mid 40's. 50mpg might be pushing it.

a two stage vtec equiped sohc zc(the d15 vtec out of +96 ek's), tuned to run a little lean on part throttle along with a longer 5th will get you good mileage and some power. not sure if youll get 50mpg though!
I used to have the single stage zc with no tune,no gutted interior, stock gearing and I used to get +40 mpg alot of times! it depends to much on your driving habits.
I have to tell you one thing though you get what you pay for. my zc even on its best day would run high 15's relatively stock while my completely stock b20z easily ran high 14's and believe me that 1 second is a huge difference not to mention I still got around 35 mpg with it. if you ask me the 5mpg difference was not worth it to keep that junk d series!
