on a stock block D16y8
a good ball bearing turbo
intercooler
afc hack

any suggestions on

I went with Drag. Still have the A/C. It's a tight fit though. I also have a custom 28" 7x2 row intercooler with 2 inch inlet/outlets if you are interested.

Roll with the Apexi kit. It is a ball bearing turbo, retains the AC, and with the IC gives 175-180HP at the wheels at 5 PSI.

I currently have the Greddy kit and it works great.
I am getting ready to put in a custom Revhard setup soon.

Thus, the Greddy kit with a ton of extras will be for sale. Stay tuned. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will get back to you when it comes out in a couple of weeks.

The revhard and retain the A/C as well. Yes, it is tight but it fits.

IM from CA so u all know MR emissions is gonna be down my throat... but at least ill have the CARB papers if i ever get in trouble. ill just have to put everything back to the bare minimum... ie no intercooler, 5-6psi etc...

i believe even with the greddy kit...your car will not pass smog if you have other modifications....correct me if i'm wrong. I always thought...that the kit would only be smog legal if it was the only modification done to the car.

I used to have a greddy kit on my d16a6...didn't pass smog...the guy didn't even want to look at it. I told him it was a greddy kit....and he just laughed...
(what an a-hole)

it should last a long time...management is of UTMOST importance....

i run a D16y7 motor w/ vtec head...head = ported, thicker head gasket, stock bottom end, AND i'm running hondata stage 2 for boost. I've been boosting 8-9psi daily for the past 5 months or so. I do push the engine hard sometimes...i still haven't had any problems.
