Has any1 ever broken a trailing arm bolt?
So I put coilovers on my car bout a month ago and took the lower control arm bolts out to make the process easier. So anyways yesterday i take my car to the shop for new tires and an alignment and the guy tells me my lower control arm bolts that meets with the trailing arm is snapped in half and can be pulled out by hand. The bolt tightened up fine a month ago, didnt cross-thread, and im just wondering, has any1 had this happen before where the bolt just snapped?
I just snapped one on a CRV trying to get it out. Busted the head off, tried to drill from the other side and screwed that all up too. So now, we got 1" of rusty bolt stuck in the middle of a bushing. Those things can get uber-rusty.
In the CRV's case, we had to replace the whole lower control arm because Honda doesn't sell just the bushing, and we didn't have the tools to change it anyway.
We snapped it by first hammering with a 3/8" impact, then a 1/2" impact, then a BIG 1/2" impact at 700ftlbs, then a big breaker bar... the breaker's what broke it lol. My guess is that you weakened the bolt head when you pulled it out.

I dunno, it didnt break at the head, broke down by the threads, and wasnt even touching it, just driving caused it to break. To fix it, imma try and grind away the tac welds and pull the nut off and just put a regular locking nut on it.
