I have a 1990 honda accord coupe dx and would like to get more horsepower I already have I/H/E and cat. delete but I read a list that said you can get 30hp with h23 and f22a6 parts. Is this true and if so could someone send me a link to a THOROUGH write up of how this is done. I have yet to find a write up that tells you everything, also what is the IAB out of the f22a6 for the secondary runners on the h23 intake mani., how will I recognize it? Just so I am clear heres a rundown of the list, f22a6 camshaft, f22a6 ecu, h23a1 intake manifold and throttle body, and the f22a6 IAB. HELP!!

 

peopel use the A6 runner and h22/h23 (i think both are an option?) upper plenum and use a spacer. some gut the butterflies out. not sure if any porting is necessary.

dont think you'll get 30 out of this alone. mabye 10 only.

 

cb7tuner forum covers that.I would simply port the head and intake myself and also get larger inyectors.Maybe geting a f22b1 would be nicer scince it has vtec, but you can mod an a1 and have fast results too, anyways check the forum out

Add the A6 cam, or a bisi stage 1, maybe some 310cc injectors, a dyno tune and you may see 30.

Only if you have all the supporting mods and get your car tuned. Supporting mods being a larger throttle body (H23 TB & upper plenum) mated to an A6 lower intake manifold (A6 runners). Upgraded cam (Bisi or an A6) and good exhaust. Most importantly a tunable EMS, chipped OBD1 ECU or a standalone EMS like AEM or Motech.

I ran a set of larger injectors on my F22B2 with no tuning. Running a ported TB intake & headers. All it did was run extremely rich. I ruined both my O2 sensors, messed up my cat and left awful black soot all over my nice white bumper.

 

If I add the A6 cam will I need the ECU?

 

I would get the ecu because if you use it alone you will not have noticeable gains.As gostaccord said, its all in the combo.

 

If all you are going to do is add the A6 cam, get yourself a stock PT6 ECU. I would also suggest that you at least do the A6 TB & intake manifold if you want to gain anything.

When you are required to use a chipped ECU or standalone, is when you start adding more air and fuel than any stock ECU can handle. H23 TB & manifold, Bisi cam and larger injectors would greatly benefit from a tunable ECU.

 

*Mill the head .050, get a bisi stg 2 cam/cam gear. Get it tuned, should be able to reach 150-160whp and a lot of torque pretty easily.

My friends F22a6 had I/H/E, Delta 272 cam, chipped ecu...it really woke the motor up, with more compression and a better cam it could only have gotten better. Check out some of the NA F22 threads on cb7tuner.com It's not very hard to build a cheap F22 that can compete with and beat stock h22's.

*cam gear to correct the cam timing (1 degree for every .012 millled is the rule of thumb)
