Need Advice On Gettin a Street Bike!
Well I loved my 250cc Dirt bike to death but sold it and really am looking to get a street bike to drive. I don't want one for doing stunts or any of that i want one that is fast is hell and good for racing. My price Range is from $2000-$3500. What is a good bike in that price range like a ninja or something? i like the crotch rockets alot.
I pretty much want the cheapest i can get for now to practice on and get used to. I perfer a Honda but what ever you guys think. I wanna get into bikes and maybe some of you have expeierce on one.
Thanks!

Your sort of contradicting yourself. You want something to practice on, But something that is "fast IS hell and good for racing". Buy yourself a Honda Nighthawk or Ninja 250. Both are great starter bikes in my opinion. Not the fastest but they get you from point A to B.

3500 could get a decent sv650 and gear. look for closeouts at dealers and internet stores for gear.
i was just strolling through houston craigslist, theres plenty of gs500, ninja 250s,ninja 500s, sv650s for your price range

decent gloves usually cost about 50 bucks.
you should get a good leather jacket, ive seen nice stuff around my way for 200-250.
now for the bike, id check out that 06 500r ninja. 2200 is dirt cheap for an 06. if the bike is clean id wave 1800 infront of him and see what happens. bring 2200 just incase you want it.
dont jump into anything though, u might think u like the sport and may not be for you at all.
check out the msf safety course, that could help you out alot.
i would go with an sv650s model. i traded my 250f dirtsicle that i was selling for 2k and 500 bucks on the top for it. so all in all i paid 2500. mine is an 03 so it is the FI model and its fast. and great for racing with lots of goodies available you can customize it with. they also look more like a crotch rocket than a ninja 250 or a nighthawk. the ninja and nighthawk will not satisfy you with their power since your dirtbike had more horsepower and a faster 0-60. google the sv650s and let me know what you think. they have 72 hp and 50 ft lbs so they will shoot u up to 60 in around 4 seconds. they are really fair when it comes to insurance also. i pay 42 a month and i have expensave insurance. these bikes are well reguarded for being great beginner bikes. i love my sv650s and am so happy with the power and preformance. espically for the fair price. you can usually find good prices on gear on craigslist.
If you can get an sv650 for your price range I'd do it. They're a great bike, and the 650cc vtwin motor is fun, even for experienced riders.
However, you're probably going to need all of your proposed 3500 budget just to get the bike, after tax and registration fees.

You know what, I don't think you're ready for a bike. Having seen you in GDD acting a fool, and judging by your post, a bike will only kill or maim you in a short time.
you don't want something with the biggest engine, or "good for racin", because to me that means you want a 160 whp literbike so you can street race--and we don't need any more of those kinds of riders.

Well I drove my Cuzins 650cc today and I think I'm gonna get a Ninja 250CC like what my cuzin started out with. he said it would top out at 130mph and was decently quick and great for beginners. I know 180MPH is not safe for a first time rider and i know if the bike will do those speeds then i will most certainly take them their and me being inexperienced thats not safe for me. so 130 is great for me!
I loved my cuzzins but holly ****in **** it was to fast. I brought it up in 1st and 2nd gear without even gassing it.
what is a good price for a 98-02 250CC Ninja thats not gonna be breaking down on me all the time?

you should be able to find a 250 for 2k, a really clean one. 98-02 isn't really necessary, as it's been the same bike since 1989. though, you want something with lower miles and a good previous owner.
please get your mc license and insurance (getting hit by an uninsured driver sucks w/o your own policy covering your ***) and keep the tags up to date. MC's are fun, but they'll kill you the second you least expect.
alot of people will say a 250 is slow, but they'll still do low 14's, or high 13's in the quarter, which is faster than 90% of cars out there. and while it's a good choice for a first bike, you still have to ride carefully and like your life is on the line whenever you are in the saddle--forget about racing or any of that and learn to ride.
oh man, whatever you do get the GEAR before you get the bike. sounds like you've got the need ... the need for speed.

good idea starting out on a 250 ... I started on a CBR F4i (600cc) and when I was ready went for the 600RR. I hope by 'racing' you mean track days ... not the STREET.
ninja 250's are good beginner bikes, but i can garuntee that it will NOT do 130 mph. thats what the speedo reads but it will only do barley over 100 mph. my sv650s tops out at around 135 mph and it has 400 more cc's, better aerodynamics and more than double the power of a ninja 250. do some reasearch online and it will tell you the truth about how fast those go.
