rear swar bar making noise
i have a question about the rear sway bar. I have the ek9 rear sway bar with OEM bushing and bracket and using the ASR subframe brace. I installed it on a USDM 1998 hatchback. After i installed it and make turns, sometimes i can hear creaking noises? its like its comming from the chassis or something. ASR guy said that the chassis is old and thats y its makign the noise with the sway bar, but i dont know if it will cause the chassis to tear. Wat do u think?
loosen teh bolts for the sway bar, get the car on the ground, and then torque them to spec. they make a lot of noise when they are tightened in the air, and can damage the bushings.
if you tightened it while on the ground and still making noise, its in need of some greasing

^^^Very true...this is a common mistake.
When the bushing bolts are tightened in the air then the car is lowered to the ground the bushings twist. Causing them to be under constant tension. Which as mentioned, can cause premature failure.
Also, check your end link bushings I don't think your chassis is gonna break off.
That's what the ASR brace is for.lol

wat do i check for in the end link bushing? Also i followed the ASR instruction step by step. I only air tighten the end link stude going in the holes on the LCA. The sway bar bracket/bushing and LCA bolt thats attact to the ASR subframe is ground tighten.
I just reread your post. You mentioned the noise when you make a turn. Are you sure the noise is coming from the rear?
Does is sound like metal to metal rubbing/creaking?
If it is from the rear, try to lube the sway bar bushings.
Let us know what comes of it. G/L

ok so today i did not take off the bushing but sprayed it with WD40. I sprayed it with the bushing installed and everything and took it for a couple U- TUrns. the 1st turn i can hear creaking noise but after that i hear it no more. I wonder if it works or will i run into creaking later lol. Also my sway bar bracket is like almost touching the exhaust on the 98 dx hatchback.

And that's how close mine is on my Del Sol.
