i know some of you, and thought this might be nifty for you all, a friend of mine got invited to race in the IOM TT, actually two of them did. At any rate, went over and had a blast, not a lot of race pictures, since its not that exciting to see bikes leaned over, i have about 1500 from the days I was there, but didnt feel like editing a lot. so here is my trip, and some pictures and a video that my friend compiled, i went a different day w/ some other racers, and ahve not finished compiling it.

Scott Jensen, AMA privateer, crashed both bikes ... 600 and 1000, broke his forearm in 2 places or something and tons of screws... he was LUCKY SOB

 

Jimmy, my buddy who was racing, his teammate Craig..

This front tire on Craig’s bike has 10 psi in it and just came in after completing the 227 mile race. He started feeling it on the next to last lap. He was having to save it with his foot a few times in slow corners but it “seemed kind of OK” in the fast ones so he stayed out and did the last lap like that. NUTTER!! It turned out that the valve stem cap was missing the o-ring seal. The valve core itself was OK and working normally, but apparently sustained running in 6th flat causes enough centrifugal force to push the pin down and let some air out. So a good valve cap is actually required.

I SO DO WANT to go there someday. Even to race in a Vespa lol.

I think the sidecar guys are even more insane than the riders. I mean, I hate to ride as a passenger on a bike, even if I know the guy pretty well and I trust him enough to ride alongside...but I hate not being in control.

And the one piloting the bike, he also has to have complete trust in what the other guy is doing...one fails, and both go down. I guess they have to be really close to rely on each other so much.

Thank you again for the great pictures! I hope to go there some day and run around the course. I'm not sure if I would be up to race it though. Did you at least get to run around the course at least once on Mad Sunday?

there were a ton of crashes on Mad Sunday, so it was closed for about 5 hours?

I went on the course in a car in the evening, i didn't have access to a motorbike unfortunately.

Next year we are taking a crate over with OUR race bikes along w/ our street bikes.

 

I've always loved the sidecar bikes in the TT.

I was there too, but isn't it incredible to win in the morning and to die in the afternoon?!

 

I want pics for proof...maybe one of you running across the road with nothing on but your helmet. (think about it...anyone can leech pics of the event but how many of those are of someone running around in the buff with a helmet on)

I believe that was... I had been following Jimmy V's blog and post on the WERA BBS. Didn't know you knew him. Sounded like a wild wild time and an intense place to actually ride/race at.
