I just bought my 88 crx Si last week. The gear shift kept kicking out of gear making me hold it in gear for about 300 miles. When i got into my drive way the gear shifter dropped down. I could pull it up and back into gear but now i cant get it up or in anygear. I knew this would be a fixer upper but, crap. What is wrong with this thing??

jack it up and look at the torque rod for the shifter. but it came out or the actual shift rod is screwed...

 

My lady's car did the same thing. The mounting on the linkage fell off so I just got a long sheet metal screw and mounted it back up in place. This sounds like the same prob. Good luck

i'd go ahead and buy the urethane shifter bushing kit from summitracing.com and install that. it's only 10 bucks and it'll shift better when you're done.
