is it ok to remove the heat shield mounted on the floor above the cat?

its my last heat shield and I still have a rattle...thought it would be the one on the cat but it wasnt...its the one above the linkage mounted to the floor...will this cause any harm removing it?

it will not hurt anything, no. but you will notice that the shifter itself will become hotter in the hot days when you are running your car. a few months ago there were a few threads on this and thats the conclusion the op's were coming too. most of them only noticed the heat when the car wasn't in motion, because there is no air flow underneath the car.
