10k/6k or 12k/8k Spring Rates
I am up in the air about these spring rates. I track my car 20%/80%. Will the 12k/8k be too stiff on the street? Will I notice a significant difference in the spring rates on the track? These springs will be going on Zeal B6/S6 coil overs.
Anyone know where I can corner weight in the Bay Area?
EDIT- Would you pay $200 more for the S6's? Why?

8/6 are extremely streetable. My wife is driving my car this week with no complaints of the ride. . . . She is cool but will let me know if she doesn't like the shock settings.
good luck and have fun.
Oh and I would pay the extra for the B6's cause they have adjustable stroke.
B6's are what I would get if I sold my HA's

12/8 (especially the 8kg/mm at the rear) is at the limit of what is tolerable for the street IMO...at least here in ATL
The main difference(s) between B6/S6 are:
1) chromemoly steel vs. aluminum shock body
2) regular vs. lightweight SWIFT springs
3) more aggressive valving (able to handle stiffer rates) - maybe AJPwr can answer this better though

anybody else like to comment on if the 12/8 would be "unstreetable". i have read every post about spring rates and there still has not been a definite answer. i have not ridden in a "stiff" car, the stiffest i have ridden in would be a 98 M3 with bilstein shocks and eibach springs or a 996 Carrera. play it safe with the softer spring rate? or will there not be that big of a difference? thanks.
I forgot more about hondas then you will ever know....

why? with a good shock, it is fine. i use 12/10 on my car, with absolutley no problems whatsoever. only on really bumpy roads it'll get annoying, but aside from that it is fine. even better with kumho 712's or avs intermediate (the azensis is stiff walled tire) i would drive 10 hours in my car no problems. and my body is totally wrecked. if it wasn't comfortable, i wouldn't have kept it in the car.

I agree strongly with rodney, to say the least and this is coming from The EXPERIENCE not just a guess.
Tom, Even though I love you, you really don't know what you are talking about here.
A.
Screw comfort. Heck I want something stiffer than 12k/8k. If I don't have to stop and pee every 30 minutes it isn't stiff enough. I do want a setup though that is safe for the street because I don't want to be coming of the road everytime I hit a pebble.

I don't have much experience with Zeal coilovers, so I won't comment on that. But I'm running TEIN HA on both my Prelude and Integra. I have 8/6 for the Integra, my wife daily drives the car and she has never complained about the ride. BTW, SoCal's roads sometimes aren't that much better than the roads in the Bay Area. Next weekend, I'm actually changing the springs to 8/8 since I have a pair of 8kg/mm TEIN springs off of my Prelude. Oh...and I have 12/10 on my Prelude and the ride is fine, at least for me and my wife.

I have zeal function s coilovers with 12k/8k. I was in the same situation as you, not knowing to go with them or the 10k/6k. I don't regret my decision. They don't feel too stiff at all. I was actually how surprised how 'soft' the ride was (it isn't really soft, but you get the point). I think people could go a bit stiffer without too much problem as long as your roads aren't full of potholes. Plus, I love the noise.

i know its been like 20 years but personally i ran 8k/10k and it was perfect for track. with a rear sway bar i had almost no oversteer. in fact sometimes i get a lil understeer like a rwd car. i switched to 8k/8k and it oversteers like crazy. stiffer rear helps with handling imo. im gonna look into 10k or 12k swift springs.

softer spring = more grip = less oversteer = in transition
