Default Engine Noise in Speakers...clarification.

Ok, so I finally got all my stuff hooked up and I noticed between songs, and usually at a louder volume, engine noise (ticking and whining) is audible. When the music starts it is pretty much non-existant and only when the stereo is louder am I able to notice but at 1/2 and lower it really isn't that bad.

My power runs down the right side of the car and the closest speaker wire is the one on the passenger side which is ran through the door so I would say it come decently close to the power but isn't taped to it obviously.

The passenger and drivers sides run down the center of the seats, on each side, and through the middle of the rear bench, near the fuel pump. The speaker wire is monster XT.

Both the 4-channel and sub cable run down the center of the car along with the remote cable. Both signal cables are shielded, one is monster, the other is s-series kicker.

I think I just need to redo the ground, which I didn't do, the jackass i bought it from attached it to the seat belt bolt in the rear, no ring terminal or washers that dig in, like a star. I also was going to redo the grounds for the engine and a site recommended doing the ground for the head unit.

Anyway, insight is as always greatly appreciated and from what I have read I don't think it will harm my speakers, please correct that if I am wrong, and it is more of an annoyance.

Again, it is hardly noticeable but enough so that I can tell what it is. Thanks guys and gals.

I kinda figured it out. I switched off the sub channel, which uses the cable that came with the car when I got it and it seems most of the noise was coming from that. But LS2K is right, I'm just going to redo the ground later.

BTW if anyone is wondering, Infinity Kappas (components in the front and 6x9s on the deck) are 100% worth the money along with the Alpine PDX-5 (from amazon). I would say I am a happy customer. Lovin' life right now.

Sounds like a winner to me! make a compression ground, get a dremel or steel wool, scratch off all paint and primer.. etc..

Ha ha don't even get me started. Don't get me wrong I love my car but going back and redoing a 1/2 assed job takes more time than actually doing it.

Ok so I became a little over excited. The noise is still there but only noticeable at zero volume, in between songs, or nothing playing at all volumes. From what I have been reading though it isn't a problem per se but more of annoyance that can be fixed. I'm not going to do competitions or anything, ha ha, so I'll just see if the ground does it.
