I'm thinking about getting rid of the EP and getting my hands on an 05 or 06 DC5 S


who else has gone from EP3 to DC5, or vise versa?


change my mind? pros/cons? whats goood?

 

These questions usually start aruments/debates so here it is...

Most people are going to tell you to go for it. This is going to come in probably after the argument that the DC5 looks like girly cavalier-ish type car and is more common, others will say the EP looks like a minivan and is ugly and slow. Personally I love my Ep. If you wanna switch do it, it doesn't matter what everyone else tells you to do.

Who the f*#k says the DC5 looks like a girly cavy?! I've never heard that ever once...

 

My buddy owned an 05 Ep3 for awhile. Then switched to a 04 Type-S, the difference is tremendous. I've driven both as if they were my own. While each have their pros and cons, the pros outweigh the cons in making the switch. I'll go ahead and list my reasons, agree or not. meh.

Pros:
Type-S has K20a2(<--thats already good enough)
6-Speed
Leather interior
5 Lug(I saw you have the 02 Ep3)
Shift **** isn't in a ghetto spot
Still has alot of compartments
Bose 6 CD Player
Real VTEC
It's not a mini-mini van

Cons:
You're spending more money
No secret compartment under cup holder


That's about it.

 

Please explain how the shifter location is ghetto.

no, EFs have a ghetto shifter location.. just jutting out of the ground like we drive a 7 speed 18 wheeler...

the frame of my car is more than likely bent. if so, i'm trading it in so i've made my decision, i'm just wondering if anyone's regretted the switch? and just wanted to talk about it with you guys! ahaha

it comes down to money, and we'll see if i can make it happen.

Why not look into an 06 si then. Its almost the same motor and lsd!! Btw i owned an ep and a dc5 at the same time. I sold the ep and kept mt dc. I am pretty sure i regret that decsion and i am actually looking at parting my dc so i can purchase an ep!!

 

my buddy was always big into integras, he had about 7 of them, and he was set on getting a dc5 but test drove both the dc5 and the fg and went with the fg over it. supercharged it, and loves it. haha

maybe i should set up my scenario for you guys. theres about a 90% chance that im coming into a serious deal of money. and although i love ep3s i just feel its going to take so much to get to where i want to be. i ran my miles high like an idiot also, i owe lot on my loan, more than i should. i found a "300 whp civic si hatch" on craigslist for 9 grand! i still owe 10! also i think the frame of my car is bent from an accident UNREPORTED on car fax. my noob self didnt know what to look for as tell tale signs of an accident. so now i have the beat si that i owe out my *** for. soooooo if i trade it in, which i was a few signs away from doing except i dont like silver cars , they'll pay off my loan, ill cut my loses, and start fresh with a legitimate dc5.

fgs did pop into my head, but i dont think i want one, i see too many modified ones... terribly modified... im big into the hatchback deal. i used to have an integra, and was looking for either an ek, or an early year dc5, but ended up with an ep? i dont know how it happened. haha

 

Im just a sucker for a hatchback. Modding it is at the furthest point away from me atm. I love my dc5 and i love the power response i get but i dont think i really want it anymore. While it is fun to drive and own i find myself getting un-needed attention from everyone and anyone with another modded car!! Besides i have had a dc5 now and modded it, my fun was good while it lasted but i still do minor power mods and a ton of suspension mods to mu next ep and i still have kpro!!! Here i come auto-x!!!! Anyway thats my plan, best of luck to you with ypur decsion/modding!!!

 

Um..Please reread Immortal-Prelude's post then read mine. I was defending the ep3 shifter. And yes i have an ep3 and i like the shifter location.

I had an eg then went to an Ep loving it had both DC and Ep for awhile but the DC for me felt a lil to bulky for me love the shifter on the EP

Ep3 seats are better and most dc5 owners that mor their car get diff seats anyway. I hate the dc5 seats!!

I saw someone here on H-T use it ahwile back (like last year or 2). I wasn't saying it looks like one, hell I don't have a problem with them at all, I was just tryin to state that questions like the OP's usually end in some sort of similiar argument.
