Default EP rear trailing arm/rim question.

Please don't post that damn wheel sizer, I already know about it and honestly, it doesn't account for the trailing arm.

I'm thinking about getting some 15in CE28N's (Volks). The offset is +43, I don't think they'll rub, I know +38's will, regardless of the rim size (I had 16's). Does anyone have any advice? Does anyone know if they'll rub?

I'm 99% sure they won't rub. What wheels did you have that rubbed with a +38? Just curious because I've had numerous offsets ranging anywhere from 0 to +50 lol, never had a problem.

Pretty sure they won't rub. Not even 38+ would. I don't think.

How low is your car?

I had +38's in 16's and they rubbed. Volks actually, this is a picture of the 16X7.5's. I wasn't even riding that low and they rubbed the trailing arm:

My car is about an inch lower than this now (I'm running factory 16's now):

I'm running 17x7.5 w/ +43 offset lowered on Eibach prokit and I don't have any issues with rubbing.

Why do you want a 15" wheel? Looks retarded.

^^^^Function. You'd be surprised how well you speed up and stop with 15's. By the way, Type-R lip kits don't really look that good with 16's and up.

I'm thinking +42 offset shouldn't rub the trailing arm either...any thoughts?

Honestly I think it depends on the wheel, but if you think of the concept of how offset works I think with 2 wheels of the same width, lets say 8" wide, one with a +30 offset and the other with a +40 offset. I believe you would have to worry more about rubbing on the inside of the wheel well more with the +40 because it will be sunkin in 10mm more than the +30. But, you will need to worry more about the fender rubbing the outside of the tires with the +30 because it will stick out more, Get it? I think you shouldn't have the problem if you get the lower offset with a wider rim.

Josh, look at the picture of my ep with the gold CE28's. I was thinking about getting some more 16's but 8 inch. Those are +38's and they rubbed. Bad. so I figured, the +42's would move the rim more to the outside. I go and 5mm spacer. So math dictating I should be alright, regardless of the width of the rim.

Actually the higher the offset, the more the rim is moved to the inside. That's why sportmaxes stick out so much, most of them are 0 offset. I had some 15x8 +25 wheels and they were no where near anything on the inside, the only thing that rubbed was the tire on the fender before they were rolled. I've also had some 15x8 0 offset sportmaxes and they stuck out about an inch and those had even more room from anything inside the wheel well.

Also if you get a +42 wheel with a 5mm spacer the offset will not be +42 anymore it will be +37.

Also, width would play a roll because if you have a +42mm offset on a 7.5in rim, the mounting plate will be 42mm toward the out side of the wheel. If you have the same offset on an 8in wide wheel, it would be the equivalent to about a +30 on the 7.5in wide wheel because the extra .5in equals about a cm and a quarter which is about 12mm. So you will need to account for that extra 12mm if you want the wheel to fit the same as the 7.5in wide wheel. I don't know if what I'm saying in this post makes sense but do you understand?
