Wasup again honda-tech. Its me again posting up my newest mod. I finally finished the swap today and thought i would share with you all. I finally got a JDM ITR motor!!! Its a '96 Spec 200hp 134tq with a LSD s80. The motor is very clean. When i got it i decided to open it up and look inside. I saw that the cylinder walls were so clean and crisp. I replaced the headgasket, timing belt and all other seals and gaskets so that i wouldn't have to deal with the headache later. I took to old motor out (GSR) in a few hours and began to install the new motor. I plan to build it NA with some cams and valvetrain and good tuning. Only thing its has right now is adjustable camgears and a JDM 4-1 DC header. I'm still using a stock p72 ecu as im waiting for my new chipped ecu to come in. I can't wait to hit 9k lol! I hope you enjoy the pics.

How much for your motor Spoon84? I'm guessing no less than $4,000+, and 98+ $4,500+ from that source. That's over price consider the year and the economy. JDM dealers still jack up the prices. IMO, you are better off rebuilding the b18c1 and will out perform the stock ITR and still retain reliability, I wouldn't mind an R motor, but I'm building my gsr. Nice swap and car though, thumbs up.
to the op, steve should have sold you a jdm p73 ecu with the swap if you bought it with the tranny. those plug right into your usdm harness just fine. the p72 is likely to be lean on the top end. as for the chipped ecu, well, personally i'd always run the honda p73 over a mail order chipped ecu. if you have a good tuner actually dyno tune the car you could probably squeeze a few more hp out by making the timing curve more aggressive and getting the AF on spot. most the honda ecu's are a little rich at WOT

Here's a Link to the differences of a '96 spec and '98 spec motors. They ran the same exact time in the 1/4 mile.

What I want to know is how does it run? Big difference from the GSR? I'm thinking about doing this swap in my 94 DC2 to make a good track/dd car. Gotta love LSD tranny's.
Nice engine. I want. It's impossible to justify the 1000 dollars on top of a jdm gsr swap with an LSD for an ITR motor if you're a plebe like me and have to pay list. I agree with the dude above that you should delete the price you paid if you got it directly through HMO so they don't get peeved.
nice motor and hell of a deal too. if i saw one for that much i prob think its fake or a typo. anyways if you were gonna build the itr you bought, why not use that money to build the gsr? with a grand you could of made the gsr stronger and faster than a stock itr. but if you wanted for just the name then great find! actually for a grand i would of picked it up also haha!!
also i wouldnt rev it to 9k without building the internals first...you wouldnt want to blow your nice jdm itr would you? gl on your build man. two words for you..."lucky bastard!" haha!

My goals are to achive 200-220 WHP without touching the bottomend. Maybe a thinner head gasket and a mill to up the compression. Some Jun3 cams and valvetrain, 5 angle valvejob, larger valves, larger TB portmatched, really really nice header like SSMP or TODA with a really good tune.
Yes, I could of put $1000 into my old GSR and yes it would of been faster or then same allmotor. BUt, This deal came up so I bought it for a 1k. Then i went and sold my GSR engine for $2000. So all in all I bought an Authentic ITR motor and made $1000. To me not many people in my area have a JDM frontend and a JDM ITR motor, so i'm just trying to be different over here in my neck of the woods. I plan to get the 5 Lug suspension next.
You tell me if you wouldn't do what i did.
Thanks for the comments guys.
