Need Engine Build Advice!
okay, so, went to the quarry in fredericksburg to jump off some cliffs. on the way back, almost home, car starts blowing blue smoke everywhere, i put it in neutral and it shuts off. i pull over, check it out, and the coolant bypass hose blew up, huge tear in it...
so, im going to fill it with water, and if the a cylinder starts leaking water, then ill pull the head, but it also has a nice knock now...
now for the advice, i have a d16y7 shortblock that needs rings and bearings. id like to hone it, clean the pistons up, get rings and bearings and assemble it. if the head does leak, im going to pull it and take it to the machine shop to get it checked and milled if it is useable.
so, my question to you, is what should the head be milled to make around 10:1 compression with what headgasket, with the stock pistons, if thats even a possible combo.
how would the y7 shortblock work with the z6 head? anything special i have to do to retain vtec?
pretty much give me a rundown of whats involved, if its really even that bad.
on a side note, i am a mechanic and will be doing this all at my shop, just wondering on the specs, clearances, parts to use, etc...
thanks guys!
