Default alarm isn't responding to either remotes.

I have a 94ls with a dei python 990. Today my remotes lost both the ability to transmit or receive. I've managed to get into my car, but I still can't get it into valet mode. Any suggestions? Thanks.

So getting in the car>turning the key on the ignition>and pressing and holding the valet button isn't working?

Exactly. I get inside my car, sirens wailing, unlock and open the door and press the valet switch with key turned to ignition.

Also any idea what might cause this?

You can't just get in, turn the key & press & hold the valet button....

The manual override is a programmable option as to how many button presses it takes to shut the alarm down manually...

Default is one press, but could have been changed at time of install.

Stupid question maybe, but is the valet switch plugged into the brain?

I installed it and I know it's plugged in because I used it to program my backup remotes. I now have three total that don't transmit or receive.

I also never changed my default setting.

So just to clarify, you get in, turn the key to "on", and press the valet switch once, all within about 5-10 seconds, it doesn't do anything. Correct?

Just want to get the details straight.

Maybe the switch is bad?

I managed to get it into valet mode. But I can't add remotes and I tried plugging in another antenna to no avail.

I'm guessing i'm sol and need a new alarm which makes this tricky. I picked this up a while back with a ccity accommodation.

Make sure the car ignition wire to the alarm is plugged in. And that you are programming the alarm with the door open. The alarm needs to see the door open too so you can get it into proggraming mode. What does the alarm do when you try to program it?

The alarm does the first beep after pressing then holding it. After pressing my transmitter, the alarm does its "time out" beep. So still no good. I'll try it again later with an extra cable and antenna I have laying around because when I used the spare I might have done it wrong.

Depending on what unit you have. Not you can not use a antenna or harness from a diffrent unit. Ie. a clifford 50.5x vs a clifford 791. Understand. Try to unplug the antenna from the brain and replace.

i've stocked up on 990 harnesses and stuff from my ccity days. Didn't work. Dei suggests the brain is fried and to talk to the warranty dept. I just hope they cover me since I never paid full price or had it dealer installed.

As long as you got it from an authorized DEI dealer, [and have an invoice] then you should have a 1 year warranty on it. 94

Otherwise if you search ebay every day, you can sometimes find brains by themselves. People will upgrade or switch, and just sell the brain. They generally go very cheap, and I'm 2 for 2 on working brains I've bought.

DEI sent me a new brain and three new remotes, and I've been doing fine for a few weeks. Now it's doing it again. I'm out of my year warranty now. Any suggestions? I'm wondering if my accessories are causing any problems. I'm just bothered because it went nearly a year with no problems. Now I gotta call DEI to see what's up, on top of having to get my brake and light test done before reg is due, and I might be needing a new alternator :\
