6th Generation 4 cylinder owners with AEM Intakes
The pipe of my AEM cold air intake seems to absorb an abnormal amount of heat. Even on mildly warm days and letting my engine cool down for a while, the pipe is too warm to hold my hand on. I've heard that the gray or "clear" intakes might hold more heat than the blue, red, or polished. I'm concerned about the heat because when I went to remove the filter, it seemed to have melted to the tube, which seems impossible. Any way, the other reason is because a pipe that hot cant be good for the preformance.
I just wanted to know if anyone else with a similar set up as mine has noticed this.

i drive a 6th gen and also have a aem cai(blue) yet i havent noticed it taking on huge amounts of heat. the rubber hasnt melted on the filter also. thats just mine..no clue why yours is overheating.
do you have an aftermarket header or did you take the heatshield off of your existing header? if you did this is why....
