When I first start the car, it will make a long & continuous noise for about 15-20 seconds and then it'll stop. Does this mean that it's going bad or am I just low on fluid?

Would a unit from 98+ model year work on my 1995 LS Special Edition model?

 

Im pretty sure you are low in fluid mine does the same!
Have not put fluid yet lol!

 

What fluid does it take?

It Wouldn't be low on fluid unless I have a leak somewhere?


UPDATE: Nevermind, I just bleed the air out & fill it up with fresh brake fluid and now it's a lot better. WOOT!

 

For anyone else that reads this that is the ABS unit in case you don't know.

 

The high pressure reservoir can leak past a valve back to the reservoir when the car is off. The buzzing is it recharging the pressure when you start the car. You are most likely not low on fluid or else the buzzing would continue and the ABS light would illuminate. This is common with these units.

A 98-01 (97 ITR as well) ABS unit is not compatible without extensive electronic and plumbing work.

No. The reservoir should be fine. It is leaking from the high pressure cylinder back to the reservoir.
