Does anyone know about replacing/getting new cam holders and plates? I sent my head to the shop to get worked on and it came back with neither of those. The guys are offering to pay, i just dont know where to get them from. I'm hearing that those two items, honda doesnt sell seperately becuase they are different for each engine. by that, is that meaning the series or each individual engine? Please help, got everything for the swap except for those. Thanks....

I did and they only have the cam holder plate or pipe...i need the actual 6 u-shaped holders. i am going to try and call and see if they have some though. thanks.

 

The only way to get cam caps from Honda is to buy the whole head. Sorry mistake on your shop's part.

 

yeah i know. but im hearing that i can get the from another engine and have them honed to fit. would you know how much that cost?

 

I ran into this problem way back. Nobody wants to sell the caps without at least selling the head. Cam caps are line bored on the head so yes they are made with each one. I've heard you can use ones off the same series heads and line bore them. But you'll probably have to overbore and bush them or you run the risk of the cams moving around. Your machine shop should know the exact procedure. I never got around to doing mine because of all the unknowns and it was for my daily driver.
